Community Futures Hires Full-Time Advisor in Brooks

Great news! Community Futures/Entre Corp has hired Matt Hill as its new full-time advisor in Brooks.
Not familiar with Community Futures? Fair enough! But chances are good that one or more of the local business you love has benefited from their services.

"Community Futures has a unique role in supporting small businesses, while working to strengthen and diversify rural economies" said Matt Hill when we met up to discuss this article. "Providing entrepreneurs with the support to find new opportunities in an ever-changing business environment is truly exciting" he added.
And he should know. Before joining Community Futures Hill left a public-sector career in the UK to open his own business.

Matt started as a one-man shop and grew his business to the point where he employed a team of staff. When I asked him about the difference between the business environments in the two countries he shared: “I have been impressed by the amount of support there is in Canada to help you get your business going.”

Community Futures is a key part of that support system. Established in 1987 and funded by the Federal Government through Western Economic Diversification Canada, CF provides financing options and business advisory services. They also partner with allies like the Chamber to provide relevant, targeted and free training for entrepreneurs and those aspiring to become entrepreneurs.

In fact, their new “Business Lunch Brooks” series launches this coming Tuesday, February 13 at Incubator Brooks. This lunch and learn will explore grant and funding options for small business and is free to attend.

Have financing in place but need help with your social media strategy? Then make sure to sign up for next month’s Business Lunch Brooks where they will be discussing a hyper-relevent subject: social media for small business!

It’s worth noting that these short-courses all occur from 12-1 and lunch is provided free of charge.

We understand that not everyone can step away from their businesses over the lunch hour. And if that’s the case, not to worry. Matt is absolutely willing to pop-by your business for a chat or to make an appointment to see you at Community Future’s new location at Incubator Brooks. And if Matt isn’t an expert in the area you need help with, he can connect you to a vast network of business professionals.

The Chamber is a shareholder in Community Futures, and believes firmly in their work. By providing financing, training coaching and advisory services to community-minded (and sometimes unexpected, disruptive or even unorthodox) businesses and entrepreneurs, they truly are helping to make our region the best place to live, work, invest and raise a family.
