This Week in Business

Budget Consultations: The Chamber will be holding an Open House on Thursday to gather feedback on the City’s proposed 2018 budget. Please come by the Chamber Office between 9-11:30 or 1:30-5:00 to have your say.

Can’t make it? We will also make our budget consultation available via surveymonkey. Keep an eye out for the link shortly. Of course, you can also check and link to the entire budget document there.

Advice Needed! The Chamber partnered with Newell Proud to promote shopping local at Christmas. How do you think it went? Let us know at

Free Money Here: Check out this database of grant funding for both business and not-for-profits. Remember, Grants are money that don’t need to be paid back!…/grants-fu…/

Rotary: Kyle, our Director of Member Relations, will be speaking to the Rotary Club about why Chambers Matter. Members: you can expect a Sears Canada analogy.

Bank of Canada Business Outlook: The central bank’s quarterly survey of companies is released on Monday, and will hopefully provide a clearer picture of Canada’s business climate. The bank’s previous survey showed that optimism remained intact despite higher interest rates and predictions that the economy’s powerful start to 2017 was fading.
